Making a RUSH Game
for use with version 1 of the RUSH rules by Allen Sliwinski.

Note: See copyright information before you copy or distribute RUSH.

The game of Rush consists of a set of rules, a 20 inch by 24 inch game board, a deck of 56 chance cards, three sheets of tokens, some money, a dish full of pills, six pawns and six "zonkometer" markers. You must supply the money, dish, pills, pawns and markers. Ideally there should be one pawn and one marker of each of these colors: red, blue, green, yellow, black and violet . You will also need at least two six sided dice.

The rules and graphic image files for the board, cards and tokens are available here in the rush.zip file.

The money should have enough ones, fives and tens to allow easy change making with up to six players. A few twenties, fifties and hundreds are also needed. [I use the money from a old unused board game.]

I use rush tokens for the six "zonkometer" markers. And I found an educational store that sells various colored pawns. Al's original rush game used an ash tray for the dish and white Go pieces for the pills. I used a custard cup and half a package of Aquatic Gardens brand "Marbles for Pet and Aquarium use". They look like blue and green glass mancala stones.

The file rush.zip is a 2 Meg. ziped file. This file unzips into the following files:

board1a.jpg board1b.jpg board2a.jpg board2b.jpg board3a.jpg
board3b.jpg Cards1.png Cards2.png Cards3.png Cards4.png
Cards5.png Cards6.png Cards7.png rush.doc rush.txt
rushps.prn rush02.txt token1.jpg token2.jpg token3.jpg

The files rush.doc, rush.txt and rushps.prn are copies of the RUSH rules in msword, plain text and postscript formats.

The file rush02.txt is a plain text copy of this document.

The remaining .jpg and .png files are 8.5 by 11 inch graphic images which will be used to construct the rest of the game.

The token1.jpg, token2.jpg and token3.jpg files should be printed onto 8.5 by 11 lables and pasted onto heavier card stock. I used Avery white full sheet lables [8165] that I got from the local Office Max. I stuck the lables on some thick cardboard scrap that I found in the basement. [Poster board should also work.] The result was amazingly professional looking.

The rest of the files should be printed on 110 LB card stock. A little too thin, but the heaviest that most printers can handle. This is also available at Office Max. Thay are used as follows.

The six board??.jpg files are used to construct the game board. I trimmed them and glued them together with mucilage. Then I had the board laminated. The result is hard to store but it looks great! This site contains a reduced image of the whole board that can be used as a guide when fitting the sheets together.

The seven Cards?.jpg files each contain eight Chance deck cards. Cut them out, trim them and use them as is. Laminating them only makes them stick together.
